| New and looking for help |

Hello,
I am new here, and, like many of you have been searching all of my life for some sort of proof of the afterlife.
To be honest, I haven't found much and despite my collections of ghost stories, my avid watching of supernatural reality television, and my visits to haunted locations, I still find myself in need of proof that SOMETHING exists after this. I'm assuming I'm not alone.
I call this being a Ghost Skeptic....someone who is quite obsessed with the supernatural and life after death, but someone who still doesn't quite believe it exists.
So I'm writing a book...an article...I'm trying to gather a collection of TRUE stories from people who have had experiences. I'm not the first one, nor will I be the last, but this is something I am very dedicated to.
Please, if you have a story, let me know in your reply. If you'd rather tell me over private e-mails, I'd be happy to do that as well, just give me your e-mail address as I will be making ALL replies screened and will not post any you would rather not have me post. Having as many details in your stories is very important...the names of places and buildings, dates, years, etc. Names can be changed if you wish.
I will not use past posted stories, as I will require your permission to use said story if I actually do finish this. Even if I don't, I will send all of you what I have compiled.
Either way, this is just the beginning of this adventure (well the prologue is written) and I hope to find real people on Live Journal to participate.
Thank you for your time, and here's to not being a skeptic any longer!
If this is not allowed, I apologize.

| Haunted Houses, Movie Theaters and TV the Safe Choices for Fear Seekers on Halloween |
[26 Oct 2007|05:33pm] |
The tagline for Brad Anderson’s cult horror film “Session 9” is “Fear is a place.” Not only is it a perfect fit for the tale of a condemned mental institution that plays mind tricks on its visitors, but it also suits modern day Halloween customs. Or at least that’s how PollyStaffle.com senior editor Chad Freeman sees it.
“Halloween is no longer a communal celebration,” Freeman said. “Actual door-to-door trick-or-treating is dead and may never be reanimated to the state it once was.”
The good news is those that get thrills in harming others, politically correctness and anti-groups have not nailed the coffin shut and buried Halloween just yet. In fact, the National Retail Federation’s Halloween Consumer Intentions and Actions Survey has estimated that consumers are expected to spend $5.07 billion this Halloween, up from $4.96 billion a year ago. So while Halloween as the baby boomers and generation-X’ers knew it seems to have disappeared, Freeman says the holiday itself will never die, it will just take on different forms.
“People like to be scared and enjoy that adrenaline rush of being horrified,” Freeman said. “But they want it to happen in the safest way possible. They want to be able to celebrate in their own homes or get in their car, drive to wherever it is they are going, have a scream and then get back home.” ( Read more )

| Haunted Hamilton, Ontario |
[26 Oct 2007|07:34pm] |
This is a picture of the notorious Connaught Hotel, so famous for having ghosts in this long-abandoned building that it's a feature on the ghost walks. Recently the feature The Hulk was filmed here and it was up to one man to watch all the electronic equipment throughout the nights the entire weekend. He was so frightened by that experience that he had to buy a whole case of beer to steel his nerves. He heard bumps, footsteps, creaks and one time he dozed off only to wake up to dozens of disembodied faces staring at him. Now he doesn't want to talk about it.

This area above the arches was particularly eerie as well. The grand steps that led up the mezzanine where these windows are contained a particularly unsettling spirit. Several of the workers felt it.

| WILMINGTON LIONS CLUB SPOOK HIKE |
[06 Oct 2006|01:36pm] |
|
WILMINGTON LIONS CLUB SPOOK HIKE
SEE evil dancing Clowns
SEE chainsaw wielding Maniacs
SEE horror movie favorites
SEE the Giant Spider
SEE the wandering Bushes
SEE the very tall Mortician
SEE hillbillies wearing masks
SEE hillbillies not wearing masks (while you wait in line to get in)
When can you see all this? On Friday Oct.20 and Saturday Oct. 21,2006, at dusk.
Where can you see all this? Forsythe Woods Forest Preserve, Wilmington, IL
What does it cost to see all this? Probably $4 per person (I think)
Who brought all of this together? The Lion's Club
How much more info is there? Lots
The 30-somethingth annual Wilmington Spook Hike is the only haunting event (that we know of) in the entire state of Illinois that is allowed to happen in a Forest Preserve (don't you love grandfather laws). The entire cast of creatures is 100% volunteer, and all proceeds go to Lion's Club charities (The Lion's Club gives money to local charities to help the needy, as well as buying glasses and hearing aids for people who need them but can't afford them). The Hike is roughly 1/3 of a mile long and takes right around a half hour to get through. Arrive early though, we often have to turn people away between midnight and 1 am (and that's still a long line).
Upon reaching the beginning of the Hike, the Gate Keeper will inform you that he has used arcane magics to create a "Path of Safety" for you to tread upon. Though the monsters can enter the Path, they can not harm you so long as you stay on the Path (the monsters have had years of this, and have learned to read between the lines, to the monsters, if you leave the Path at any time you are fair game... keep this in mind). The Path is displayed using small low powered lights along both sides of the Path.
The Spook Hike is a family friendly event, we ask that our monsters not use foul language and that our patrons please keep it to a minimum. As it does take place in a Forest preserve, you will be asked not to smoke upon entry to the woods (for the safety of everyone).

| New Candlelight Theatre (x-posted) |
[30 Sep 2006|09:56pm] |
|
I don't know if any of you live in the Philadelphia/Delaware area but the Chester County Paranormal Research Society is holding an event at my friend's theatre that this community might be interested in! I can attest for the strange happenings at Candlelight - there have been several instances that are unexplained by any other means. It is said that one of the previous owners haunts the building, and I believe it! Anyhow - if anyone is interested check out http://www.chestercountyprs.com/nctevent.htm. The event is Saturday, October 28th. from 11pm to 2am. The cost of $25.00 per person is a fundraiser for both the theatre (they just went non-profit) and the Paranormal Society. The Chester County Paranormal Research Society recently appeared on Philadelphia's NBC 10 news. Check it out! http://www.nbc10.com/news/9686907/detail.html

| Creative new CD for Haunted Attractions |
[25 Aug 2006|07:58am] |
When I made this CD I had huanted attractions in mind.
Real Paranormal Music! A halloween CD with actual ghost recordings!
Rue Morgue Magazine had this to say about Dark Asylum's previous album: "A strange and subtle stroll through the audible darklands... Suitably foreboding and never panders to cliche." "Orchestral and unnerving." "...makes atmosphere into an art form."
What makes Dark Asylum different from other Halloween themed releases by groups like Midnight Syndicate is the use of real EVP, or electronic voice phenomenon.
This year's release is titled MALICE and is by far the most aggressive, most atmospheric and most spooky. Dark Asylum not only brings the usual EVP and scary orchestrations, but uses a recording of an actual Russian orthodox exorcism!
